Wallace M. Tice
Although born in Sherman, Texas, Mr. Tice moved to his mother's ancestral home in Hawaii as a 2-year-old, and lived in Lanikai, Oahu until his dad's 1958 discharge from the Marine Corps. With his parents and younger brother, he then relocated to his dad's origins in Columbus, Ohio, where the family expanded with another brother and two sisters. He grew up in an upper class home in an upper/middle class suburb (Hilliard, OH), which also had a strong farming influence. Through adolescence, Mr. Tice played numerous sports (baseball, football, tennis, wrestling, track & field), and he earned high school varsity letters in football, wrestling, track & field and tennis. He graduated Hilliard High School among the top 10, while earning the "Most Likely to Succeed" yearbook award as a senior.
Following high school, Mr. Tice attended Kenyon College (Gambler, OH), where he received 4 varsity tennis letters, was a Captain of the tennis team as a senior, and graduated with honors in a Political Science major in 1976. During the summers, he gave tennis lessons, including a summer at Punahou School in Honolulu.
After college, Mr. Tice attended Villanova University School of Law and received his J.D. in 1979. During the summers, he clerked for a Philadelphia law firm and for a public interest environmental firm in Honolulu. Following graduation, he moved to San Francisco and took the California bar exam. Before passing the bar in November 1979, he began attorney work for Amour, St. John, Wilcox & Goodin, and he started his insurance coverage training as an associate with Hall, Henry, Oliver & McReavy from 1980-1985. After terms with Lossing & Elston (1985-1988) and Mark B. Scott (1989), he joined McGlynn, McLong & Ritchie in 1989, where he became a partner in 1993.
Mr. Tice joined Lynch, Gilardi and Grummer in 1999, and became a partner in 2001. He chairs the firm's Insurance Law and Litigation Group, and is a member of the firm's Labor & Employment Law Group, where he handles cases involving wrongful termination, gender and age discrimination, executive compensation and severance arrangements. His extensive experience also includes handling ERISA claims and appellate actions. Mr. Tice's expertise includes insurance coverage, bad faith and fraud, employment and professional liability, bodily injury and property damage defense.
He is a member of the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association, the San Francisco and Marin County Bar Associations, the Defense Research Institute (DRI) Insurance Law Committee, the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS), the Property Claims Association of the Pacific and the Northern California Fraud Investigators Association.
