Lynch Gilardi & Grummer was established in downtown San Francisco in 1978 by a group of three highly successful trial lawyers – Robert Lynch, Richard Gilardi, and Duane Grummer. Ambitious and focused, the three founding partners decided to make their proximity to the Port of San Francisco, where barges sailed by every day, a part of their client success stories by installing a Ship Captain’s Bell in the lobby of their offices. Each time a case was successfully resolved for a client, the lead attorney for the case would enthusiastically ring the bell, alerting the other partners about the victory. It became a tradition in the small firm, and soon the Captain’s Bell was ringing client success on a daily basis.

With success comes growth, and the firm was growing to meet the demands of its expanding client roster. Specializing in Labor & Employment, Construction and related areas of law, Lynch, Gilardi & Grummer built an enviable reputation for client commitment. A commitment creed was written and communicated to every newly hired attorney and staff member:
